Leaving us with over 27 years of Sobriety
NOTES FROM THE MEETING:
New GSR's: Jim S. is the new GSR for the Sparta Friendship Group. Paula E. is the new GSR for the 623 Group. Welcome to the world of service work!!!!
Corned Beef & Cabbage: It was an absolute success!!! Well over 300 people attended the event. Gordon N. gave the wrap-up report. There were plenty of people to help with the cleanup and the idea of having baby sitters for the kids was an unparalleled success. The District accepted donations for the baby sitters and that idea was a total success. The speakers were great!!! It must be noted by the editor that Don Pearson donated the horseradish. I had previously stated it had been purchased. The editor humbly apologizes.
Corrections: Doug T. (337-8451). Chester P. gave the report for Doug as he couldn't be at the meeting. Several people from the Cahokia Serenity Grp have submitted the applications to the state to be allowed to go into SWICC.
District 14 Website: Rick H. is the Webmasterfor the district. More discussion on the content of the website. In particular, what is placed upon the message board. It was felt that Rick should have the authority to remove anything from the message board that is not AA related. The "anything" will be further defined at the next GSR meeting in May 2003.
Treatment: Udell G. (332-2414). The development of a meeting at the Scott AFB Hospital is still awaiting approval from the Hospital Commander and ultimately the Base Commander. The process does take awhile. The editor has been contacted several times. I have everything ready to go to get the meeting off and running.
2003 Alkathon: St Peters Cathedral School has been reserved. We are looking for a person to be the Chairperson and then a group or group of people to be the committee. Always a daunting task, but the results are worth it...

The 5th Group of Ten Rules for Sobriety
51) Progress is made ONE DAY AT A TIME, not 10 years in one
day!
55) Make no major decisions the first year.
56) Get a sponsor and use him/her. (not just selectively
share).
57) Know that no matter what your problems, someone's had them before.
Don't be afraid to share, as a problem shared is half solved.
58) Strive for progress --- not perfection.
59) When in doubt ask questions. The only stupid question is the one
not asked. You weren't afraid to speak before, so why start
now.
60) Use prayer and meditation...not just pillow talk, get on those
knees. Put your shoes under the bed just in case someone's
looking.
