District 14 met on 9 November in Shiloh at the Coffee Pot Group location with the Wades Square Group hosting. There were 27 GSR’s and guests in attendance. The 14 December meeting will be hosted by the Wades Square Group at the O’Fallon Trailer Group location. The 11 January and 8 February 2004 meetings will be hosted by the 623 Group. The 14 March and 11 April meetings will be tentatively hosted by the Collinsville Honesty Group. The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm. See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:

Bob T. (284-4543) is the new GSR for the Waterloo Group.

The Monday, 6 pm meeting at the 623 Group has ceased.

The East St Louis 12x12 Group now meets at this address: 4046 Forest Blvd, East St Louis, IL.

CPC (Chester P. – 337-1476): He has begun with the local doctors to see if they are interested in AA information. It was suggested that he work through the Nurse Managers at each office. Chester will move onto judges, hospitals and others. Another report will be made at the Dec 2003 GSR meeting.

TREATMENT (Udell G. – 332-2414). Need more people to chair meetings at Gateway. This is on a Sunday Night from 7-8 pm. All material necessary to conduct a meeting is in place --- all you have to do is show up. This is a terribly important area of service work. You may be the person who makes that impression upon an individual that they can get and stay SOBER!!!! Please give Udell a call if you believe you can be of service.

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451): Help is needed with the meetings at SWICC. These are held on Monday and Friday. Holding or attending a meeting behind the walls/bars is a super way to appreciate the benefits of recovery. Give him a call if you are interested.

Webmaster(Rick H. – 277-8459): A second presentation was made by Rich M. on the website. The guidelines have been drafted and revised. A meeting of the committee will be held on 14 Nov 2003 at the OFTG Ala-Non Room at 6:30 pm to finalize the guidelines.

The women’s meeting at the St Clair County Jail still needs more women to help conduct meetings. If you can volunteer, call Sue S. (398-3648).

A combined Where & When for districts14 & 18 has been completed. The DCM for District 18 was contacted. He conducted a random survey of the District 18 GSR’s. All thought it was a great idea. Final corrections will be made and the master copy will be delivered to the printers on 10 Nov 2003. Hope to have these available before Thanksgiving 2003.

A long-term goal is to have the Where & When’s for Districts 4 & 7 included in the above Where & When. This will include all the districts around District 14 (except across the river).

The 2003 Alkathon will see the use of a Child Patrol as was used in the 2003 Corned Beef & Cabbage. It was extremely successful at the 2003 CB&C. Donations made it possible. The days of the Alkathon have been picked. Dances are also being planned. Entertainment at the 2003 Alkathon will be the responsibility of the Group hosting the Dances. A smoking tent may be purchased by the Sparta 212 Club and rented by the District. Much, much, much discussion on this item.

March 2004 Area Assembly: District 14 is going to host this one. Sites must be checked into quickly. Gary T., Paula E., Chris C. and Maggie E. are checking sites. They have the authority to decide and commit the district to a site. A flyer will be done also as Sue S. (Dist 14 DCM) must take this to the Area Assembly in Vandalia in Dec 2003.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

There will be an Open House at the (new) New Day Recovery Club in East St Louis on 15 November 2003. This is at 4046 Forest Blvd. The doors will open at 9 am. Lunch will being promptly at 12 noon. The speaker will start at 1 pm. The dance will unfold at 8 pm. Admission is $3 or 2 people for $5. Come and enjoy the new facility!!!!

The 6th Annual Mens AA Breakfast will be held on 16 Nov 2003 at the Viking Holiday Inn in Sunset Hills Missouri. There will be a 9 am buffet breakfast with the speaker at 10 am. He is WC L. There will be a potluck with speaker on 30 Nov 2003 at the Sparta 212 Club. Eat at 1 pm and the speaker will commence at 2 pm. Please bring a covered dish to fill out the meal. All are welcome.

District 13 will host the Southern Illinois Area Assembly on 7 Dec 2003 at the Days Inn in Vandalia. Registration begins at 7:30 am and the assembly convenes at 9:00 am. Registration is $4 and Lunch is $11. Call the Days Inn for reservations at 618-283-4400. Mention the assembly to get a discount.
