District 14 met on 14 January in Cahokia with the Cahokia Serenity Group hosting. There were 22 GSR’s and guests in attendance. The February 2007 meeting will be hosted by the Cahokia Serenity Group at 3636 Falling Springs Road in Cahokia. The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm. See you there…..

Dennis W. (588-4503) is the new GSR for the Mascoutah Group. Welcome to service work!!!

Gary M. (741-9596) is the new GSR for the New Baden Group. Welcome to the world of service work!!!

Chuck G. (337-5327) is the new GSR for the Cahokia Serenity Group. Welcome back to service work!!!!

The Solution Group now meets at St Matthew United Methodist Church at 1200 Moreland Drive in Belleville. It is off 74th Street. The meeting time is still 7 pm on Thursday and the meeting is 1 ½ hours long. It is a closed, no smoking meeting. It is still MEN ONLY.

Treatment Facilities (Jason K. – 257-2414): Jason volunteered for the position after Udell G. resigned from the position for personal reasons. Jason is also the GSR for The Solution Group.

Grapevine (Gene E. – 228-9108): Eight subscriptions will be given out as a result of the Alkathon. This is a great way to get the meeting in print delivered to your house!!!

Bridging the Gap (Sherri L. – cell 618-604-3981): She received a couple of calls and the callers were provided as needed.

Answering Svc (Ethereal T. – 233-7104):

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451): One more person has been approved. Chuck G. is going to resume going into SWICC. The meetings are going exceptionally well plus they are growing. There is a lot of interest in AA at SWICC. Please call Doug if you might be interested in taking the meetings “behind the walls”.

PI/Literature (Tom D. – 282-1973): ): Has restocked almost everyplace except TASC. They need a rack and literature --- this will be procured in the near future. The VA Clinic will be restocked the week of 15 Jan 07. Among the places with racks to be stocked and/or places that District 14 hopes to place racks are:

Swansea Police Station
Touchette Hospital
Gateway Facility
St Clair County Jail


The Alkathon 2006 Roundup: A special thanks to all the volunteers and especially to the East St Louis Groups for their efforts in the final cleaning of the facility. The groups did a pretty decent job of cleaning up each evening. One area that the district will try to improve on a little is the communication from night to night concerning better utilization of leftovers; i.e., ensuring that as little as possible is wasted. There was some concern expressed over the cost vs the usage of the smoking tent. Much discussion on this and more to come I am sure.


Alkathon 2007: A motion was made and passed that the district reserve the Cathedral Grade School for 2007. More later….

Corned Beef & Cabbage 2007: This event will be held on 17 March 2007 at the Cathedral Grade School. Approval has been given to procure the food and the DJ will being secured. More next month…..

The SRN IL 21 Area Assembly will be held on 9 September 2007 and will be hosted by Dist 14. It will be held at the Southern Illinois Heart Institute portion of St Elizabeth’s Hospital. There is lots of parking for the attendee’s. Rooms will be reserved at the Townhouse Motel. Lunch for the attendee’s will be catered as it is for almost every assembly. Registration begins at 7:30 am and the assembly begins at 9 am. More later….

The 2007 East Central Regional Conference will be held 12-14 Oct 2007 in Manitowoc Wisconsin. More seriously later….

The East Central Regional Forum wwill be held 9-11 Nov 2007 in Arlington Heights IL. More a whole lot later…..

The 2008 Southern Illinois Area Spring Conference will be held during the month of March 2008 in District 7. This is beyond seriously later…
