District 14 met on 13 Jan 2008 at the 623 Club in Belleville IL and was hosted by the 623 Group. There were 15 GSR’s and guests in attendance. The 10 Feb 2008 GSR Meeting will be at the 623 Club with the 623 group hosting. The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm. See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:



Shiloh Coffee Pot Group: They will be having their annual Night of the Stars on 27 Jan 2008. Come out and help them celebrate this special night.

The Women’s Meeting at the 623 Club meets on Thursday at 6 pm. This is a change. It will be noted in the W&W.

CPC (Tracy H. – 618-974-9054): Tracy met with her team and they are drafting a letter that will be directed towards the local mental health facilities. It will be directed towards the local police departments and then the medical community. The letter will explain what AA is, how to contact AA in the Metro East, the website site address for Where & When info & what committee’s are in place to offer assistance.

Treatment Facilities (Joe P. – 618-410-0214): The Solution Group is tentatively going to take the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Gateway.

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451): Always need more volunteers. One more volunteer has completed the paperwork and will probably be cleared. It is recommended that tou should have 3-5 years of sobriety. This is desired by the facility. If you want to go for a one-time visit; let me know and I will get it arranged. Otherwise, everything is going fine.

Central Service Representative (Lee W. – 654-9245): Need more volunteers to man the phones; this is due to the snowbirds heading south. The shifts are 4 hours long. You must have at least one year of sobriety to do this. Otherwise, everything is going fine.

Answering Svc (Craig S. – 618-975-9264): During the day, calls to the Answering Service will be transferred to the Central Svc Office. This will save money & put the caller in immediately contact with an alcoholic. The calls will be switched back in the evening. Dist 17 wants to join the Answering Svc. This is been worked on…more later…..

Website (Rich M. – 398-2334): A list of SRN Area 21 Trusted Servants has been procured and this will be placed upon the site. Two errors were spotted in the Booze New Archives and this will be fixed.

Grapevine (Gene E. – 228-9108): 23 subscriptions to the Grapevine were given out at the Alkathon. The highest number ever! A great way to get the message into someone’s hands.

Bridging the Gap (Sherri L. – 618-398-0349): Actually had two contacts in past month. Sherri would like to be able to contact each group’s GSR & arrange for someone at that groups meeting to meet the contactee. A great idea!! Where & When (Gene E. – 228-9108): Will begin working on the new Where & When. Also, will be working on the electronic version to update the website to change all the Smoking meetings to No Smoking. This is in accordance with the new Illinois State Law.

Corned Beef & Cabbage: (Connie S. - 304-7557) is the chairperson for CB&C. The date is 15 March 2008. Preliminary preparations have been completed. A band has been secured. More next month…..

ALKATHON 2007 Wrap-Up:
1. Tracy & her team did a superb job! A lot of work, but very satisfying & fulfilling. 2. Thanks to Lou L. for the smoking tent. The use of the smoking tent in the future will be different; Lou can be called on a moments notice to put the tent in place. This all depends upon the weather. 3. Thanks to Judy for decorating on New Years Eve. 4. It was noted that ESL did a superb job of cleaning up. This was helped by all the volunteers and it was noted that the day-by-day cleanup was the best ever.

The Southern Illinois Area Assembly will be held on 8 June 2008 at the Renaissance Room at 440 North Walnut in Danville IL. It will be hosted by Dist 9. Really….there was no name of the place on the flyer.
