District 14 met on 8 Feb 2009 at O’Fallon Trailer Group in O’Fallon.  There were 22 GSR’s and guests in attendance.  The 8 March & 12 April 2009 meetings will be hosted by the Addieville Schoolhouse Group in Addieville IL.  The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm.  See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:

 

The Old Cahokia Group has ceased meeting as of this date.  Change will be made in the W&W.

 

Central Service Office (Lee W. – 654-9245):  Going fine. 

 

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451):  Meetings are going fine.  The individual who was turned down to be a volunteer appealed & won.  Doug still needs more volunteers to take meetings inside.

 

CPC (Mike F. – 622-6592):  No report.  Needs guidance.  A CPC Kit will be ordered from GSO.

 

PI/Literature (Tom D. - 282-1973):  The literature that was supposed to be ordered for the Treatment Facilities apparently was not ordered.  This will be done.  The literature rack at the VA Clinic in West Belleville will be restocked/resupplied.

 

Treatment Facilities (Donella C. – 234-2283):  Smarts is moving to a new facility just down the street from its present location.  A consolidation from one address instead of three addresses. 

 

Grapevine (Gene E. – 228-9108):  A book called “Beginners Book” has been published by GSO.  It has stories from the Grapevine on how beginners to sobriety survived and progressed. 

 

Website (Rich M. – 398-2334):  Did not attend. 

 

Corned Beef & Cabbage 2009 (Connie S., Judy M. & Paula E. are all tri-chairs) – The date has been finally set for the 7th of March 2009.  Dist 14 was unsuccessful in getting the band Sullivan Drive.  Connie has made contacts to get a DJ and/or band.  Johnnie S. will do the cooking again.  It should once again be a great time….!!!!

 

There is a new meeting beginning 3 Feb 2009 at the St Peters Catholic Cathedral in the basement of the convent.  This is across the street from the cathedral school.  It is a Big Book study via Joe & Charlie tapes.  It happens the 1st, 3rd, 4th & (if there is) 5th Tuesdays at 7 pm.  Please bring your own coffee/drink, paper, pen/pencil & highlighter until July 2009.  We will not be able to meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  The address is:  200 West Harrison St, Belleville IL.  Questions, call Gordon N. at 618-580-1118. 

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

The 28th Annual Five Corners Convention will be held 20-21 Feb 2009 in Sikeston MO at the Sikeston Armory on 300 South Main St in Sikeston MO.  Hotel accommodations can be found at the Days Inn on 1330 South Main St in Sikeston MO.  Call 573-471-3930 for reservations.  Rooms are $57 per night --- up to 4 people per room.  Reservations begin at 3 pm Friday and it is free.  First speaker begins promptly at 7 pm Friday.

 

District 10 will hold their Annual Winter Event “2009 Potluck” on 21 Feb 2009 at 2002 Fox Creek Rd in Bloomington IL.  The topics will be:  The History of AA and the Big Book.  For more info, call Sue T. (309) 826-0078 or Kara H. (309) 821-0118.

District 14 will be hosting the Area Assembly for Dec 2009.  The district is looking at having the assembly at St Elizabeth’s in the Centennial Room.  Paula will put in a reservation for this.  Rooms would be reserved at the Townhouse Motel again.  More a whole lot later….
