District 14 met on 8 Mar 2009 at the Addieville Schoolhouse Group in Addieville.  There were 18 GSR’s and guests in attendance.  The 12 April 2009 meeting will be hosted by the Addieville Schoolhouse Group in Addieville IL.  The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm.  See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:

 

Meg Wessel is the new GSR for New Athens.  Welcome Meg to service work!!!

 

Rich Munie is the new Alt GSR for the 623 Group.  Glad to have you with us!!!

 

The Coulterville Meeting which meets on Saturday at 8 pm has moved from the public library to the fire house.  It is believed that the new address is:  215 East Maple St.

 

Central Service Office (Lee W. – 654-9245):  Going fine.  New computer has been acquired to aid in maintaining phone listings and to communicate with the outside world. 

 

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451):  Meetings are going fine.  Doug still wants more volunteers to take meetings inside.  Two meetings per week are very well attended.

 

CPC (Mike F. – 622-6592):  CPC kit has been ordered. 

 

PI/Literature (Tom D. - 282-1973):  The literature rack at the VA Clinic in West Belleville will be restocked when Tom goes to the VA Clinic in the near future.

 

Treatment Facilities (Donella C. – 234-2283):  Literature has been ordered.

 

Grapevine (Gene E. – 228-9108):  Three subscriptions were given away at the CB&C.  The latest issue of the Grapevine has stories by people who have double-digit sobriety and have run into problems.  Very insightful !!! 

 

Website (Rich M. – 398-2334):  Website is fine except for the Booze News Archive.  This will continue to be worked upon. 

 

Corned Beef & Cabbage 2009 – Attendance was down slightly but that did not detract from the night of fellowship and fun.  The food (there was plenty of it) was absolutely fantastic and the DJ was superb.  The cleanup crew performed wonders as always. 

 

There is a new meeting beginning 3 Feb 2009 at the St Peters Catholic Cathedral in the basement of the convent.  This is across the street from the cathedral school.  It is a Big Book study via Joe & Charlie tapes.  It happens the 1st, 3rd, 4th & (if there is) 5th Tuesdays at 7 pm.  Please bring your own coffee/drink, paper, pen/pencil & highlighter until July 2009.  We will not be able to meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  The address is:  200 West Harrison St, Belleville IL.  Questions, call Gordon N. at 618-580-1118. 

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

New Athens will be having a monster potluck on 10 Feb 2009.  Dinner is at 7 pm with the speaker (Terry C. from Group 477 in Missouri) at 8 pm.

The Millard Fillmore Open will be held at the Highland Park Golf Course on 17 May 2009.  It is a   4-person Best Ball event.  The 1st Tee Time is 9:00 a.m.  There is a $10 per person entry fee which includes lunch and prizes.  This event is sponsored by the “Plan for Recovery” meeting.  To reserve a spot or call for more info, please contact Drew B. The Illinois Summer Roundup will be held 12-14 June 2009 in Knoxville IL.  Use exit 51 off I-74 to get to the Fairgrounds…..

 

The 36th Illinois State & 29th East Central Regional Conference will be held in Peoria IL at the Holiday Inn on 7-9 Aug 2009.  The cost of the registration is $25.  The cost of the registration & banquet together is $50.  The cost of the Current & Past Delegate Luncheon is $16.  There is a whole lot to see and do at this event….it is huge!!!  Speakers, panels, exhibits, archives, hospitality room and even a dance.  For more info, contact Pat R.
