District 14 met on 9 August 2009 at the St Elizabeth’s Hospital, 7th floor, Rm 122 and hosted by Dr Bobs.  There were 16 GSR’s and guests in attendance.  The September meeting is canceled.  The October 11th and November 8th meetings will be hosted by the Cahokia Serenity Group.  The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm.  See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:

 

New GSR’s:  Jeff P. is the new GSR for the G.O.D. Group in Sparta .  Welcome Jeff!!!!!

 

Corrections (Doug T. – 337-8451):  Doug received the literature that had been ordered.  Things are going great.  There will be seminar on 8 Oct 2009 concerning the budget cuts.  Organizations will have booths to answer questions and hand out literature. 

 

CPC (Mike F. - 622-6592):  After talking with Paula E. & calling GSO in NY, it was found the order could not be found so the order was repeated.

 

CSO (Lee W. - 654-9245):  Dist 16 is indeed going to be part of the Answering Service for $25 per month.  A problem CSO is having that there are not enough women on the contact listings and when calls come in that require a woman to talk to the caller, it can be very difficult to get that caller help.  This underscores the importance of being on the contact list.  Call Lee if you can do this.

 

PI/Literature (Tom D. - 282-1973):  According to Tom S., the literature rack (it was found) at the VA Clinic in West Belleville is again empty.  The literature rack at St Elizabeth’s needs to be restocked once again according to Judy M.    

 

Website (Rich M. – 398-2334):  Booze News Archives and the 2009 Booze News are now available.  This will continue to be worked upon as some months are still missing. 

 

Discussion of Prudent Reserve:  This was briefly discussed.  Jeff S. has compiled an annual list of expenditures that the district must consider.  Any further actions were tabled until the October 2009 GSR meeting as Jeff is on vacation.

 

Area Assembly for December 2009:  The individual who is heading this effort was not present.  This was tabled until the October 2009 GSR meeting.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

New Athens is having its 30th Anniversary celebration on 11 Aug 2009.  The potluck begins at 7 pm with Roast Turkey and all the fixings.  Speakers will be Phyllis B. & Indian Joe.  Please come and enjoy this special occasion.

 

On 9 Sep 2009, the Trenton Group celebrates their 4th anniversary by watching the movie “My Name is Bill W.”  Extra popcorn will be made so come out and see an outstanding movie….

The fall Rend Lake Campout will be held 12-14 Sep 2009 at Coy & Wilma’s in Sesser IL .  The cost is $15 per night.  For more info, call 618-242-7871 or 618-304-7557.  Also, you can call Coy & Wilma’s office at 618-625-2101.

District 13 is hosting the Area Assembly for 13 Sep 2009 in Vandalia. 

The Annual Cahokia-Waterloo Picnic will be held at Konarcik Park in Waterloo on 19 Sep 2009.  The eating will begin promptly at 12 Noon…..

The District 18 AA Picnic will be held on 27 Sep 2009 at Dad’s Park in South Roxana IL.  The festivities begin at 11 a.m.  Meat and drinks are provided.  Please bring a covered dish.  Live music, raffles, games and fellowship are to be found at the picnic.

The 30th Annual Peoria Area AA Women’s Luncheon will be held on 17 Oct 2009 at Ravina-on-the-Lake.  The fellowship begins at 10 a.m., lunch at 11:30 a.m., the speaker at 12:30 p.m.  The cost of the affair is $15.00.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  You may call and arrange for tickets through the following individuals:  Claudia 309-688-7968, Julie M. 309-678-6988, Mary W. 309-231-4932, Michaela 309-397-4449, Rhonda 309-370-4293 and Sue 309-360-2184. 

 

District 14 will be hosting the Area Assembly for 6 Dec 2009.  The district is looking at having the assembly at St Elizabeth’s in the Centennial Room.  Paula has finalized the initial reservations to get the ball rolling.  Cahokia Serenity Group will host the “night before the assembly” meeting.  More later….

 

District 15 is hosting the 7 Mar 2010 Area Assembly in Jacksonville IL.  We hope to have some more info a little later in the century……

 

The Southern Illinois Area 21 Spring Conference will be held 12-14 Mar 2010 in Springfield IL.  It will be hosted by District 19.
