NOTES FROM THE MEETING:
Corrections (Doug
T. – 337-8451): There was a seminar on 8 Oct 2009 concerning the budget
cuts at SWICC. As a result, 200 inmates will be given early
release. Organizations were on hand with booths to answer questions and
hand out literature. Two people from AA were present and did a fine
job. All in all, all speakers and information was very well received.
CPC (Mike F. - 622-6592):
Mike had still not received a packet from GSO so Paul E. (Area CPC) gave Mike
one of hers. Mike is set to go for now.
CSO (Lee W. - 654-9245): The last
two months have seen over 280 calls to CSO and over 150 visitors. A
problem CSO is having that there are not enough women on the contact listings
and when calls come in that require a woman to talk to the caller, it can be
very difficult to get that caller help. This underscores the importance of
being on the contact list. Call Lee if you can do this.
PI/Literature
(Tom D. - 282-1973): According to Tom D., he has been terribly
ill for 2-3 months which has curtailed his duties. He promises to have
the racks at the VA Clinic and St Elizabeth’s filled by the next meeting.
Treatment Facilities (Donella C. – 234-2283): Despite the budget cuts
and/or threat of budget cuts, the facilities in District 14 haven’t
missed a beat. SMARTS inpatients doubled up with Halfway Houses where
they could and are now back to normal. Gateway never changed. Things are
going very well.
Website (Rich M. –
398-2334): Doing just fine.
Discussion of Prudent Reserve: This was discussed at length and then some. Jeff S.
has compiled an annual list of expenditures that the district must
consider. Jeff will seek guidance from Terry S. and Rich B. who are
previous District Treasurers. Tabled until the Nov 2009 GSR Meeting.
Area Assembly for December 2009: This is a go for 6 Dec 2009. Registration begins at 7
am and the assembly begins at 9 am. Cost for registration is $4.00 and
lunch is $7.00. The event will be held at the Centennial Room on the main
floor at St Elizabeth’s Hospital at 211 South Third St in Belleville . Rooms have been reserved at the Town
House Motel (618-233-7881) at 400 South Illinois St in Belleville
. It is $39.95 for the king-sized bed and $43.20 for a

Saturday Night Meeting before the assembly at the Centennial Room at 8
pm. Doors for this open at 7 pm. Finger foods, snacks & coffee
provided. If you need more info than this, please call Chuck G.
(618-520-6239) or Paula E. (618-910-0047).

chosen. These will be finalized by the end of the 8 Nov 2009 GSR Meeting.
