District 14 met on 14 Mar 2010 at the 623 Group with Dr Bobs West hosting.  There were 24 GSR’s and guests in attendance.  The 11 April 2010 meeting will be hosted by the O’Fallon Trailer Group in O’Fallon.  The time for all GSR Meetings remains the same at 1 pm.  See you there…..

NOTES FROM THE MEETING:

 

Dean S. (SIA 21 Delegate) – he will be going to the annual delegates meeting in NYC in April & is getting around to the districts to see what is happening before attending.  One of the big items on the agenda is the future of the Grapevine.  9000 subscriptions were lost in 2009 & that equals $230,000 in revenue.  One of the ideas on the Grapevine includes electronic subscriptions.  Also, many pamphlets are under revision. 

 

Corrections (Doug T. - 337-8451):  All is going well.  Always looking for more volunteers.  Prison now allows one-on-one with inmates for the purpose of the prisoners to work the steps.  Two meetings per week are held.

 

Central Service Office (Lee W. – 654-9245):  Elections will shortly be held for board positions.  By-laws to be voted upon with a presentation by a lawyer on the by-laws.

 

CPC (Calvin H. – 719-9872):  Nothing to report this month.

 

Grapevine (Gene E. 228-9108):  Eight new CD’s issued by GSO including one on Attitude Adjustment.

 

PI/Literature (Tom D. - 282-1973):  Hospital administrator at Red Bud has requested a literature rack with literature.  Tom to order literature from CSO in Roxana.  Tom to personally take care of this.

 

Treatment Facilities (Donella C. – 234-2283):  Not present 

 

Website (Rich M. – 398-2334):  Everything is doing great.  The website has been updated with the latest version of the Where & When. 

 

Workshop (Tom S. – 618-615-1311):  The workshop was held on the 28th of Feb 2010 at the 623 Club at 1 pm.  The workshop subject was:  Sponsorship.  There will be a panel of four people with great experiences in sponsorship.  There were 14 people who attended.  Super attitude towards the workshop concept.  The next workshop is tentatively scheduled for the last Sunday in April (25th).  It will be on service work with a panel of four people who have extensive experience in service work.  More later…..

 

St Clair County Jail: (Sue M. – 398-3648):  Not present.

 

Where & When for 2010 (Gene E. – 228-9108):  They have been rcvd and many were passed out at the March 2010 GSR meeting.  Bulk deliveries were made to the OFTG & 623 Groups.

 

Corned Beef & Cabbage for 2010:  20 March 2010 is the date.  The district has made a deposit to reserve a date.  Connie S. is the chairperson this year.  Calvin H. has ordered the food.  Johnnie S. will be cooking once again.  Bill B. will be the DJ again this year.  Connie will be purchasing two new coffee pots for the event as us folks tend to go through a little bit of coffee.  The speakers are set.  Decorations are also arranged.  At this point, we are all set.  Come join us for the event.

 

Alkathon 2010:  Mike F. is the chairman for this event.  More later…..

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

Waterloo Group will be celebrated 35 years of history on 5 April 2010.  There will be a potluck at 7 pm with speakers beginning at 8 pm.  Ralph S. & Louise G. will be two of the speakers.  Come join the group for a very interesting and quality AA evening.  

 

The Southern Illinois Area 21 Assembly will be hosted by District 4 on 6 June 2010.  More later….

 

The Southern Illinois Area 21 Assembly will be hosted by District 18 on 11 Sep 2010 at the Moose Lodge in Edwardsville IL .  The Holiday Inn in Troy will be available for rooms at $89 per night.  The latest date for reservations is 11 July 2010.  More really later…..
